of rolls to steel industry managers from around the world.
Rolling Out the Red Carpet for Carbide Rolls Customer Seminar
TaeguTec is known for outstanding cutting tools the world over but that is just one side of the story.
The other side of the story is the company's industrial products division which offers an extensive lineup of carbide and ceramic wear parts, carbide rolls, rods and tungsten powders as well as dies and anvils.
Recently, TaeguTec invited 66 end-users from 10 countries to take part in an extensive seminar to learn about the range of carbide rolls available and how to properly apply them in real-life steel mill situations.
“The thing I like about TaeguTec is that they go into great detail and suggest to you, depending on your application, what kind of rolls you needs,” said production director of Bhirawa, Mr. R. Nagesh from Indonesia.
A few years ago, Nagesh’s company purchased a slew of carbide rolls from TaeguTec during their major production revamp and upgrade.
During the two-day seminar, participants had a rare chance to visit the modern and state-of-the-art production facilities that constantly pump out carbide rolls that are used the world over including in its home base of South Korea.
The seminars were extensive but everyone in attendance made sure to take this opportunity to have questions answered concerning the application of carbide rolls to their production capabilities.
The seminars included an extensive tour of the facilities in which Mr. Nicholas Currie from Charter Steel in the United States echoed everyone's sentiment by saying, “I have never seen a manufacturing facility in the sort of line we do with anything like that before, the automation, the cleanliness, the quality control. I would say that I was blown away. I was very impressed.”
Even though TaeguTec is a fairly well-known player in the carbide roll market, attendees adamantly said they would spread the word about the company's optimal products, service and “incredibly friendly hospitality.”
“We now have an understanding of the quality of the product, we always thought it was an exceptional product but now we see why and therefore, we now have greater confidence,” Mr. Currie said.
This sentiment was shared a few years ago when the vice president of a major Korean steel company visited TaeguTec for the first time. The high ranking executive was so blown away from the facilities and the product that he notified his company to only use TaeguTec carbide rolls in their production of steel products.
Putting its money where its mouth is, TaeguTec held a demonstration of its composite rolls to show how they can be used in a real-life environment.
Seminars like this do not come cheap; airfare, stay at five-star hotels, a gala dinner filled with some of the most delicious foods in the country as well as all-star performances leave an impression that South Korea is not the country of yesterday – it is a country for today and tomorrow supplying everything from electronics to cars to carbide rolls and highly sought-after cutting tools from TaeguTec.
Furthermore, guests are shown Seoul, the South Korean capital, to experience the dichotomy of the nation's history and future; something that leaves every United Nations Korean War veteran in awe when they visit the land they helped defend over half a century ago.
Economic crisis or not, TaeguTec’s philosophy is to continue with these high-quality seminars both in its carbide rolls product line as well as its famous cutting tool line.
After all, steel and different alloys are everywhere and are used in millions of everyday items. While companies might be dropping their production output for now, the reality of the matter is that steel products need to keep pumping out necessities that are used in everything from homes to cars to household appliances.
The difference between TaeguTec and other carbide rolls suppliers is how they do it. Like Mr. Georg Nussbaum from Swiss Steel said, “Other companies also have good products but for us, it's also the relationship which is the most important thing. Especially when you have problems and also when you need carbide rolls right away, the agent has to solve the problem right away.”
One attendee who wanted to remain nameless added that the relationship between his European company and TaeguTec is what keeps everything running smoothly; the other is the quality of the product.
TaeguTec is renowned for its specialist tungsten carbide cutting tools, tungsten powders, tungsten carbide rolls and industrial products.
The century-old company supplies carbide rolls such to many prominent global steel mills such as ArcelorMittal, Gerdau, Celsa, TATA, POSCO, Hyundai, JFE B&S and many others.
TaeguTec’s carbide rolls such as block rolls, composite rolls, torque rolls, cantilever rolls and tri rolls shape various applications like wire rods, rebars, round bars and angles for steel mills mainly focusing on long products.
Everyone polled at the seminar echoed the same sentiment, that the performance and high surface quality of TaeguTec’s carbide rolls provides an optimal solution to those who want to increase their productivity and produce quality products.
