Italian, Spanish Customers Learn to Battle Euro Zone Slump at Seminar
For two days in early November, TaeguTec invited companies and customers from Italy and Spain to look at the latest cutting tool innovations at its headquarters in South Korea.
“Seminars like these show our customers the latest GoldRush (grade tools) such as the DrillRush line,” said Giovanni Ongaro, TaeguTec Italy’s managing director.
Mr. Ongaro added that DrillRush’s recently expanded diameter and depth-of-cut range will effectively serve to improve productivity and reduce cycle-time on a wider range of drilling applications.
“Italy is currently the seventh largest automotive manufacturer in the world with a very strong foundation for cutting tools,” he said.
For the Italian auto sector market – where overseas demand has picked up to compensate for a depressed local demand – better productivity and reduced cycle-time generates more demand, not less.
Speaking for the counterpart delegation, TaeguTec Spain’s sales manager Miguel Alonso Romero explained that Spain is the eighth largest automotive manufacturer globally with many OEMs supplying European and American auto manufacturers.
Mr. Romero added that the auto sector needs high productivity cutting tools like the QuadRush, which is designed for shallow grooving.
“For shallow grooving of shafts, the QuadRush line, with its multiple cutting edges and simple yet error proof set-up, is the key difference in quality, finish and higher output,” noted Mr. Romero.
Concerning the aerospace industry in Italy and Spain, both managers explained that their customers are heavily involved with either titanium or aluminum alloys where high-speed machining is required.
Mr. Romero said, “Spanish shops manufacture tail, fin pitch elevator components and now has a growing presence in composite assemblage of military rotor and fixed wing aircraft.”
The situation is similar in Italy with Mr. Ongaro noting that Italian companies also make military fixed wing and rotor craft components.
For these customers, TaeguTec’s MillRush, ChaseAlu and AluMill lines are excellent high-speed cutting solutions that offer the required rigidity, reduced cutting force with the optimal speeds and feeds that improve productivity yet reduce overall cost.
Both Italian and Spanish customers agreed that the ability to ramp-up production with reduced production times is the key to future success.
“This is where TaeguTec’s product lines help,” said an Italian customer that requested anonymity. “Without the easy set-up of the three-in-one T-Clamp cutting tools, our operation would not last long.”
Mr. Romero cited further illustrations on how TaeguTec helps his heavy industry customers in Spain.
One example he used was Spain’s railway manufacturers who are aggressively going after global projects.
“There is growing demand for Spanish know-how in high-speed rail component manufacturing,” he said.
Profile milling of rails, hole making for bolts or turning of train wheels and axles require large size inserts and tool holders that can do serious roughing with great chip breaking capability.
The TopDuty line’s CNMD and LNMX series, tackle the job of wheel profile machining and axle machining with speed and economy due to its double-sided feature and the ability to handle deep depths-of-cut with effective chip breaking.
The entire group not only took part in seminars, there were intensive demonstrations where TaeguTec cutting tools were tested on the spectrum of metals with positive results and feedback. Customers were impressed by the latest GoldRush line of cutting tools.
For developed markets like Italy and Spain, the GoldRush line’s focus on productivity and economy is in line with their needs for faster production cycles and overall reduced cost.
