StarMill Specification Changes
to the Current SED Line

Trends in the metalworking market continue to shift towards difficult-to-cut materials which are characterized by sticky like properties during machining. Thus, the market demand for more suitable cutting tools has also increased.

As such, the StarMill SED end mill product line has undergone modifications to meet this continuing demand as well as the need for customer convenience.

The changes are to the total length (L) and depth of cut (ap) of some StarMill SED type solid carbide end mills.

Type ML Insert Line Launched

TaeguTec has launched a V type ML chip breaker insert for the RhinoRush line.

With the introduction of the V type ML chip breaker, the RhinoRush line has expanded the range of ML types from C and D to widen the range of choice for customers.

The new chip breaker is ground and includes a sharp cutting edge for lower cutting force that minimizes built-up-edges, thus generating longer tool life and excellent surface roughness.

TT7005 Life+ An Improved
CVD Coating Grade for
High-Speed Cast Iron Machining

TaeguTec has launched a new TT7005 Life+ turning grade with improved wear resistance over the current TT7005 grade for cast iron machining.

Cast iron machining has a tendency to generate deviation during operation due to the material’s nature. Moreover, recent automation trends require stable machining during operation.

TaeguTec’s TT7005 Life+ grade with its excellent anti-chemical reaction provides stable long tool life because of the improved wear resistance based on a better coating and substrate. Also, the improved wear resistance delivers superior performance in high-speed machining of gray cast iron and ductile cast iron.

Other important features is its improved chipping resistance that extends tool life and due to its fine coating layer, the new addition to the Life+ line offers excellent surface roughness during machining.

DuetBall New ML Chip Former
for Lower Cutting Force

TaeguTec’s new DuetBall line ML type chip former for the mold and die, aerospace and power generation industries is now available.

The new ML type insert designed with a high positive rake angle generates low cutting resistance for longer tool life.

To better serve the market place, the DuetBall insert line now comes in two types; the current M type and the new ML type to suit the widest range of metals (P, K, M and S).

The M type is suitable for general purpose machining of steel and cast iron while the new ML type is suitable for more difficult-to-cut materials as well as carbon steel and stainless steel.

Moreover, TaeguTec’s new chip formers are adapted to low power consumption machines and offer excellent surface finish.

The ML type insert is available in 16, 20 and 25 millimeter sizes.

In product testing, TaeguTec’s DuetBall new ML chip former increased tool life by 80 percent while machining a workpiece made from stainless steel and 86 percent on another workpiece made from turbine blade material.


New 27mm Double-Ended Parting, Grooving Blades for QuadRush Inserts

TaeguTec has introduced a new double-ended blade, the TQBR/L-27, for QuadRush inserts.

This addition facilitates market demand for the QuadRush line with a 27 millimeter size inserts used for parting and grooving applications.

The general features of the QuadRush include four cutting edges with high positive rake angles and a unique solid clamping system that guarantees high machining reliability.

The holder’s pockets protect unused edges from chips during the machining process and insert indexing from both sides of the holder.

Overall, the QuadRush’s applied grades and range of geometries offer better surface quality and extended tool life – both attributes that have made the line a go-to choice.

The QuadRush double-ended parting and grooving blades are available in four different blade types and the standard TTBN and TTBU blocks can be used for both right- and left-handed tools.

The tensile specimen test is a standardized test to determine the stress strain curve point when fracturing occurs by longitudinally pulling a tensile specimen after fixing both its ends.

This commonly used test determines how a material reacts under types of stress or force for the purposes of quality control.

TaeguTec’s tensile specimen processing insert has a molded three dimensional four cutting edge chip former that includes a high helix cutting edge for smoother machining.

TaeguTec has added a new line of inserts and holders to the RhinoRush family.

RhinoRush, known for its smaller more robust double-sided design, is introducing a “V” type 1304 insert that enables excellent chip breaking performance on a various range of turning applications.

The VNMX 1304 chip breaker is now available in FS, FG, FM, MK, PC and MT types.

The new range of holders includes improved clamping systems that enhance the rigidity and stability required in high MRR operations. The improved clamping systems cover Hook lever, T-Holder and Screw type holders.

New Quick Change System

TaeguTec has launched an improved quick change cutter system for conventional face milling applications that use big diameter cutters.

Usually on general and special purpose machines and occasionally on CNC machining centers, face milling applications use fine pitch, big diameter cutters to achieve high productivity. TaeguTec has launched the double-sided Chase2Ball.

Optimally suited for press and die items in the mold and die industry and copy milling in heavy industry, the Chase2Ball is a double-sided insert that easily handles roughing of complicated profiles.

As it is a double-sided insert with 6 corners; 3 per side – economy is one of its key advantages.

Another advantage is low cutting resistance due to its half-effective tool design.

Other benefits include exceptionally stable machining in deep depth of cut applications due to the Chase2Ball’s 8 millimeter insert thickness.

Included is a built-in reinforced insert design that gives improved insert and tool security even in heavy rough machining situations.
